How to Train for an Ice Mile

An ice mile is a lot harder than it sounds. It involves swimming in a cold temperature so it is a must to train for it. In fact, some people don’t like swimming in cold temperature. You are not allowed to wear winter attire while swimming in the cold water either so it is something you must get used to. After each swimming session, you must check your heartbeat rate using Equivital’s amazing range of products. Don’t worry though because when it comes to accuracy, you know you are getting the best out of them. As a matter of fact, they take pride in providing durable products that you will be using for a long time. Also, it would be better if you swim in freshwater because you will find out that it is a bit warmer than your swimming pool. Also, you will get to commune with nature but that does not mean that you are in there to eat the fish that are living there. It would be better to let them live their lives.

When the water is pretty cold, it would be best to slowly get into it. Diving into it may not be a good idea as your body will feel the sudden freezing temperature. When you finally feel warm, then that would be the best time to get out of the water. This means that your body already has gotten used to the coldness of the water. Thus, it won’t be that harmful to get back right into it when the going gets tough and the tough gets going. It also means you already got a feel of the water. There will be a few temptations that will tell you to just forget about the ice mile. You better ignore all those things and do a few strokes until you get used to it. Don’t forget to never do the ice mile alone as there is a huge chance you are going to get very dizzy when it is all over. When that happens, you would need someone to bring you back to the shore. Ideally, that person should also know how to swim because there may be a time when they would have no choice but to rescue you.
